WP Statistics provides three methods for detecting visitor location data: MaxMind, DB-IP, and Cloudflare Geolocation. Each method has its own advantages, and choosing the right one depends on your needs.
MaxMind is the default geolocation method in WP Statistics. It uses the MaxMind GeoIP database to detect country, region, and city based on the visitor’s IP address. To enable full location detection, the City Database is required.
DB-IP is an alternative to MaxMind that may provide better region and city accuracy in some countries. Like MaxMind, it requires the City Database for full location detection.
Cloudflare Geolocation relies on Cloudflare’s network to provide location data. It requires enabling Visitor Location Headers in your Cloudflare account.
