WP Statistics 14.12: Improved Source Categories and More

We’re kicking off 2025 with an exciting new major release: WP Statistics 14.12! Packed with new features, new reports
, and improved performance, this release is designed to make your analytics experience even better. Let’s dive into what’s new.

Expanded Source Categories for Deeper Insights

In version 14.11, we introduced the concept of Source Categories, starting with Organic Search and Paid Search. Now, with 14.12, we’re expanding support to include a wider range of categories:

  • Organic Social
  • Paid Social
  • Paid Video
  • Paid Shopping
  • Organic Shopping
  • Organic Video
  • Email
  • …and more!

Alongside these updates, we’ve improved the Referral column in reports to reflect the Source Category, giving you a clearer view of where your visitors are coming from.

To help you analyze this data more effectively, we’ve added two new reports under the “Referrals” section:

  1. Source Categories Report
A breakdown of traffic by all supported source categories.
  2. Social Media Report
Insights into traffic coming specifically from social platforms.

We’ve written a detailed post about this change, which you can read here.

New Reports

This version also introduces two other reports to help you better understand your site’s performance:

  1. 404 Reports
Available under Page Insights, this report helps you identify and fix broken links on your site.
  2. Logged-in Users Report
Exclusively available when tracking for logged-in users is enabled, this report (under the Visitors section) shows how your registered users are interacting with your site.

Redesigned Privacy Audit Page

We’ve given the Privacy Audit page a fresh new design for a clearer and more intuitive user experience. Stay compliant with privacy regulations while navigating an improved interface.

Cloudflare Integration for Geographical Data

To boost performance for high-traffic websites, we now support using Cloudflare to detect geographic data such as country, region, and city. This integration is a recommended alternative to MaxMind GeoIP2 for sites with significant traffic. For more details, check out this documentation.

Debug Your Tracker.js with Ease

If you’ve ever encountered issues with the WP Statistics tracker.js, we’ve got you covered. A new debugger tool is now available under Settings → General → Open Debugger, making it easier to review and resolve potential problems.
