After saving, WP Statistics prompts you to queue the Word Count Rebuild background job. Run it to scan existing posts and repopulate word‑count data. While the scan runs, all Word Count widgets re‑appear fully populated.
What disappears when I disable the feature?
Every Word Count data inside Content and Author Analytics. No new word counts are logged.
Will the old data come back if I re‑enable?
Yes, run the Word Count Rebuild job after turning the feature on and the reports will return with the historical data it finds.
Can I keep historical data but stop new tracking?
Absolutely. Toggle the feature off; reports vanish but the data stays stored should you ever reactivate it.
Does disabling improve performance?
Word‑count calculations are light, but skipping them can slightly shorten post‑save operations. Deleting data also keeps your database lean.
