Track UTM Parameters

Upcoming Improvements:

We’re working to enhance our referral reports, including UTM reports, so stay tuned. Our plan is to completely redesign the referral report in Q3, incorporating new features such as campaign analytics, campaign comparison, and more.

With UTM parameters, you can track traffic sources like social media, email campaigns, and more in the WP Statistics plugin. UTM parameters are simple codes added to URLs that provide insights into your marketing efforts. This guide shows you how to view and customize UTM tracking in WP Statistics.

Viewing UTM Campaign Reports

  1. Go to the Page Insights or Content Analytics menu in WP Statistics. Click on the content item for which you want to see detailed statistics.
  2. On the top right corner of the page, select the desired query parameter (such as utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, etc.) from the Query Parameter dropdown to view traffic based on UTM parameters.

This data shows you which marketing campaigns, social posts, and other sources are driving traffic to your site. Use these insights to improve your website’s growth strategies.

Troubleshooting

By default, WP Statistics tracks common UTM parameters like utm_source, utm_medium, etc. However, you can review and add custom parameters by following these steps:

  1. Go to Settings – Filtering & Exceptions in your WordPress admin area.
  2. Find the “URL Query Parameters” section.
  3. The common UTM parameters (utm_source, utm_medium, etc.) are already listed. Add any custom query parameters you want to track.
  4. Click “Save Changes.”
