Get a deeper look at Source Categories in WP Statistics 14.12

We’re excited to announce that WP Statistics 14.12 brings an expanded range of Source Categories to help you discover
deeper insights into your traffic. Understanding where your visitors are coming from is essential for tailoring your content, optimizing marketing strategies, and improving overall site performance—and now it’s easier than ever.

What Are Source Categories?

Source Categories in WP Statistics help you classify your website traffic by the channel or source that drives visitors to your site. This level of detail enables you to make more informed decisions by analyzing your traffic with clarity and precision.

What’s New in WP Statistics 14.12?

In our previous release, we introduced Source Categories with initial support for Organic Search and Paid Search. In 14.12, we’re taking it to the next level with the addition of the following categories:

  • Organic Social: Visitors from non-ad links on platforms like Facebook, Twitter (X), or LinkedIn.
  • Paid Social: Traffic generated via social media ads on platforms like Facebook Ads or LinkedIn Ads.
  • Paid Video: Traffic from video ads on platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, and Vimeo.
  • Paid Shopping: Visitors arriving via paid ads on shopping sites like Amazon or eBay.
  • Organic Shopping: Non-ad traffic from shopping sites.
  • Organic Video: Visitors arriving from non-ad links on video platforms like YouTube or TikTok.
  • Email: Visitors who land on your site through email campaigns.
  • Affiliates: Traffic driven by affiliate sites promoting your content or products.
  • SMS: Visitors who click links shared via text messages.
  • Direct: Visitors who access your site directly by entering the URL or using a saved link.
  • Display: Traffic from display ads.
  • Audio: Traffic from audio platforms like podcast directories.
  • Mobile Push Notifications: Visitors who click links in push notifications sent to mobile devices.
  • Paid Other: Ad-driven traffic that doesn’t fit into the categories above.
  • Referral: Non-ad traffic from other websites, such as blogs or news sites.

Two New Reports

To make the most of these enhanced categories, we’ve added two new reports under the Referrals section:

  1. Source Categories Report
Analyze traffic across all supported source categories and see which channels are driving the most visitors to your site.
  2. Social Media Report
Dive deeper into the performance of social media platforms, both organic and paid, to understand which networks are best for your strategy.
