In some cases, WP Statistics licenses may need to be transferred between users, such as when a developer or agency has completed a project and wants to hand over the license to the website owner. This guide explains how you can transfer your license and outlines what happens during the process.
Note: When you transfer a license, the associated subscription will be canceled, and all licenses tied to that subscription will be moved. Be sure to review the licenses carefully before initiating a transfer.
How Do I Transfer My License Key?
To transfer your WP Statistics license, follow these steps:
Submit a Request via Email
Send an email to our support team [[email protected]] from the email address used to purchase the license. This ensures that only the rightful owner can initiate the transfer process.
Provide the Necessary Details
In your email, include:
License Key: The license key you wish to transfer.
New Account Email: The email address of the account to which the license will be transferred.
Verification and Processing
Our support team will review and verify your request. Once verified, the transfer will be processed, and both the original owner and the new owner will receive confirmation emails.
What Happens to the Original License Owner?
Once the transfer is complete:
- The license(s) will no longer be visible in your account.
- Any associated subscription will be canceled, and no further renewals or charges will occur.
- You will no longer have access to historical transaction records, payment methods, or active/revoked sites associated with the transferred license.
However, existing installations on websites where the license is active will remain unaffected. The new owner will gain control of the license and the list of active sites.
Important: Even if you provide proof of purchase (e.g., a receipt), after the transfer is completed, you will no longer hold any rights to the transferred license or its associated data.
What Happens to the New License Owner?
For the new license owner, the following will occur:
- If the destination account already exists, the license will be added to that account, and an email will be sent notifying the new owner of the transfer.
- If the account does not exist, a welcome email will be sent with a link to complete the account registration, allowing the new owner to access the transferred license(s).
Once the license is added to the new owner’s account, they will be able to view the license key, license type, and expiry date. Any websites where the license is active will also remain listed.
Note: The new owner will not have access to any past subscription information, such as payment methods, receipts, or previously revoked sites.
Renewing or Upgrading a Transferred License
A transferred license will not have a subscription attached initially. This affects both renewals and upgrades, as described below.
Renewing the License
Before the license expires, the new owner will receive an email prompting them to add payment details. This will renew the license and establish a new subscription, ensuring continued use of WP Statistics.
If the renewal is completed, future renewals will be processed automatically.
Upgrading the License
An unrenewed transferred license can still be upgraded, but any upgrades will be at the full price, since the new owner hasn’t accumulated any payment history for the license. Once the license has been renewed and is under a subscription, the new owner may qualify for upgrade discounts, as payments toward the license accumulate value.
