What’s the difference between Visits and Visitors?

Visits is the number of page hits your site has received.

Visitors is the number of unique users that have visited your site.

Visits should always be greater than Visitors (though there are a few times when this won’t be true on very low usage sites due to how the exclusion code works).

The average number of pages a visitor views on your site is Visits/Visitors.

  1. Hi, I’ve got a site with a “coming soon” page up (permacuture.com). The page offers a link to another site as an alternative. I’m wondering why, since there is only the “coming soon” page at permaculture.com, I’m consistently getting more visits than visitors — 50 to 100% more visits than visitors? Is it counting people clicking on the link and going to the other site?
